Cortinarius (Phlegmacium) subfulgens Orton Matter Klumpfuss Cap 6–10cm across, convex then expanded, golden-yellow to orange-tawny, brighter yellow at the incurved margin. Stem 40–70 x 15–25mm (30–50mm at marginate bulb) yellowish-buff with paler apex, base tinged tawny; cortina yellowish. Flesh pale yellowish, darker at stem base. Taste mild, smell none. Gills yellow then rusty-ochre. Spore print rust. Spores slightly lemon-shaped, rough, 10–11.5 x 5.5–6µ. KOH turns cap cuticle and flesh of stem base blood-red. Habitat deciduous woods. Season autumn. Rare. Edibility suspect -avoid. Found In Europe.
